Found a '68 Baracuda 999 paint code 4 sale
« on: November 10, 2006 - 10:28:42 PM »
 Hi guys,
I'm new around here but wanted to let you all know in case anyone was interest in a 1968 Baracuda I looked at today that is for sale. I live in Port St. Lucie, Fla. and the car is the next town north of me about ten miles away. The guy showed me the original window sticker and data plate both showing the 999 paint code. My understanding is that this code was used very rarely in '68 as special order only for a PPG paint that was orange. The car would leave it's plant in primer and have the paint applied at another location/plant.

The car is a driver. An original 318 cid which he has along with the original trans. It's an auto on the colum. Currently, it's a purple color though not Plum Crazy. There are some minor rust issues as usual but this is an original California car that was sold at a place called "Jim Piano" Chrysler Plymouth. He has just about all it's maint. records and manuals too. It's running a 340 now but the original motor goes with it too. I drove it today. I'm passing on it because I don't want a project car but for $6800.00 asking price, I think someone might be interested.

That's about it. I'm not friends with this guy or anything, Just happened to drive by and saw it sitting for sale. Anyone wanting more info (not that I have more)can email me. I'd be glad to help. I can reach him.

 Later all..... Andy  :2thumbs:   "ag248@bellsouth.net"

It was orange in the article, I think it was vitamin C, which is the same as Omaha orange( this orange was a limited run on some late model Dakotas)
