need help id'ing rearend

Can someone tell me what distinguishing markings or boltpattarns to look for inorder to help in identifying what rearend I have in my Challenger, posi-track, sure-grip etc. And what exactly is the difference between them.

I think the only way you will be able to tell a sure-grip from open rear end would be to jack both rear tires up off the ground, and turn one of them. If the other tire turns the same way, it's a sure grip.  :thumbsup: posi-traction is a G.M. term, it means the same thing.

Guess I should have included that I am pretty sure it's a Sure Grip in that it does leave two tire marks but I was wondering what the Locker type was also. Cause if I go around a tight corner at a lower speed I can hear/feel the rearend do a kind of skipping thing. Is this normal for a Sure Grip?

you may need to add Mopar friction modifier to the gear oil to stop the sure grip chattring most sure grips were cone style , pre 69 used a heavier clutch type inthe 8 3/4 & Dana always had clutch but there were 2 different types , the good power lock used into mid 70s & the weak track [crack] lock since the 70s
