aluminum tags

Here is a fender tag question for ya. Under the original fender tag on my 71 challenger are 2 aluminum tags approx. 1  1/2" square. Both tags have  2D  embossed on them, one of the tags also has the letter  P  stamped clear out of the tag. Can anyone tell me what these tags are for and what there codes mean???   Thanks in advance!

They are inspection tags. The numbers or letters identified different inspectors, just like finding "inspected by #12" in your new Levi's pocket.

I haven't in at least fifteen years.. I just figured they don't do it anymore...Maybe the ones they sell in Alaska have been on the shelf more the fifteen years..
