Thanks for all the tips, today I managed to slide the tranny back a few inches (no easy task!)& found the plate to motor bolts way out, 1/8 to 1/4 inch , so I have to blame myself, must have tried to get it off when cleaning up the motor & got distracted & never tightened em, now I couldn't see if the plate was damaged, but I got em all tight, I drained the fluid & using a couple of 3" long bolts in place of the short ones to the motor, loosened all the connections, pulled the driveshart & pried it back about 2 or 3 inches, tried to shoot pics, but they don't show much, got the bolts tight & gave the floor jack a push with my foot & it slide right back in, put the converter bolts back in & redid all the connections, wanted to start it up soooooooo bad but all I got was click click
so while I was cleaning up I put the charger on , finished cleaning up well after dark, workin with a drop light I gave it another try, a couple a turns & then dead again, but no noise so thats a good sign, tomorrow greg 340 is workin with me, so I'll put the charger on before work & try to start it when we get back in the afternoon at least he knows what he's doing!
The jury's still out on the carnage, but what I'm hoping for is that I'll be able to start it every week or so till spring, when I pull the tranny down & get a better look.
The balancing seems to be in the plate, I see counter weight on it, here's a pick of it, if thats so, then i'll need the aftermarket plate with balance to replace it if it's ovaled out around the bolts.
correct? Rich.
