« on: January 10, 2007 - 04:58:55 PM »
Looking for the best quality fiberglass bumper for a cuda, who sells `em and who`s is best? Also looking for lightwiehgt brackets.
AAR-has elastomeric bumper
Unlimited-Only shows regular style bumper-not elastomeric but has fiberglass brackets
US Body-nothing
Showcars-they have what looks like an elastomeric bumper listed under `67-68 front bumper and what looks like a regular one listed under under 70-74
Anyone else make one?

I used the ones from AAR on my '71 Challenger, no complaints. My paint and body guy liked them too, and he is picky.

Do the fiberglass bumpers offer any protection at all or are they just a big piece of plastic?  Do they have steel in them? Can someone enlighten me?

All the ones I have seen are all fiberglass-no reinforcement.

Thanks. I wouldn't want to take a chance smashing up a fragile, yet very expensive, grill because I was using a plastic bumper.

Why not just run the steel reinforcement bar that came on the later model 'CUDAs ?  That way if your car got into a minor scrape or fenderbender the Grille would have some protection.

Let's face it though, any wreck over 3 miles an hour is gonna take out the grille unless you have the full setup with the huge brackets out of a '73 or '74
