Silly Question
« on: December 12, 2006 - 08:31:59 PM »
Anyone know what the right paint is for the sunvisor brackets? What about other special paint colors like the grills and any other non body color items? Any information about other items that usually need specialty type paints or colors would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

I think they're just Argent Glen.  :2cents:

Thanks Carl, haven't painted any of these things yet and just want to get the right colors, maybe I can just get it in a spray can at Checker auto or some place like that. That will be easy for the visors, maybe there's a thread here somewhere that shows someones grill restoration and talks about the paint. I would think that the colors would be the same on the B bodies as well but not sure.

I went through it with pointers from JS27, Pete and others. (I thought you gave input too?)  :clueless:
I know how if you're talking 1970 Challenger grilles.  :)

Carl, thanks for the feedback, don't remember chiming in on that one but possibly added something to the discussion when I had the Chally. I'll probably find it doing a search on some other sites that deal with cars like mine. Still would think that the paints are very similar if not exact for things like this.

You can get most of what you need in puff cans from Dave at Totally Auto.  http://www.totallyautoinc.com/  If you want to spray the paint and need codes I have many of them.  Let me know what you need and I will look it up for you.

That's great, thanks for the link, I just need the codes for the grill and visor brackets for now. 70 Road Runner, I appreciate it.  :2thumbs:

It's been a while since I worked on a 70 Runner.  I believe the color is the argent silver used on the rallye wheel centers. The code is DX-8555.  I would suggest asking Dave at the link I posted to see if it is the same silver.

Yeah, I think they are a brighter silver than natural...like a dull aluminum or so.

For Challenger sunvisor mounts I have used Dave's restoration silver.  I do not remember what the 70 Runner is like.  Dave also has a non-textured grille silver.
