It almost ran full circle. It would have been nice to buy back before it got painted Tor Red. I couldn't afford it now and I feel the car should be EF8 again. Oh well there are always other cars :woohoo:
The only real sad part of the story is that I might have still owned it if I had sold my Z/28 first :crying:

Great story, I also need the time machine.

I remember in the early 80s I was looking for my 1st car to buy.  Guy around the corner had a Blue 70 440 R/T 4spd Challenger for sale.  This thing was a legend in the neighborhood, nothing could touch it.  I talked my dad into going over to look at it, he talks me out of the car with many reasons why it's not a good deal, guy was asking $1000, probably could have got it for $800-$900.

Since that deal was "no good", I found another car for sale, Orange 70 R/T 383 auto for $750.  Dad also found many things wrong with this car.

Looking back at it I can understand why dad didn't want me to get either of those cars.  That kinda HP for a first car would have been trouble.

I ended up finding a 72 318 Challenger in the paper from a "little old lady", for some reason Dad agreed this was a good deal for $850.

I wish I had a time machine sometimes. I remember how easily you could buy a bad ass muscle car in the late 70's early 80's. I truly have no regrets though because I really lived in a bad neighborhood growing up. I am pretty sure if I was able to get anything truly bad ass at the time it would have gotten stolen. I did have a 73 charger that was extremely powerful and always took out the street competiton. (340 360 heads). I think things happen for a reason even when you don't or can't figure them out at the time. I remember when I was a little boy my dad took me and my older brother to National Speedway out on Long Island and all I remember were the loud roars of car engines and the light posts for the races. Now that is a place where I wish I could beam back and actually see and appreciate what was racing. I also remember sitting in my Uncles 69 road runner and feeling it rumble. My older brother told me it was a 383. Now that's another spot in time I wish I could beam to or at least view in a time machine screen.....
