OK it's new to me.
If anyone remembers ( been a while since I've posted last ) I have power steering and have been on the fence about converting to manual.
I scored a manual gear box for $40 - so I will be trying the manual route.
The way it looks, I will pull the pump ( easy part ) then pull the gear box itself.
Here is where I need some help.
1-It looks as if pulling the box will require a temporary motor movement to clear big block, right?
I'm thinking take motor mount bolt out and lift driver side of the motor.
2-Will I be able to run my same pitman arm from the power box now on the manual?
3-I'm thinking while under here, replacing the rest of the steering goodies, tie rods, sleeves, idler arm. Is there a good "kit" if you will with all these at a good price?
I DO know that I will need to replace the steering shaft for the new box for the extra length needed - Summit seems to have that covered with the Flaming River Co for just such a thing.
Last question is what about keeping the wheels straight and the steeing gear going straight? I would asume that I should keep the wheels straight, center the number of turns on the gear box and then install.
Any feedback or input would be appreciated - thanks guys!
