Does my bumper look ok like this?
« on: December 31, 2006 - 05:07:17 PM »
I found a new 73 bumper still in the bag for my 74 challenger. Little did I know the bracket set ups are different. So I found some 73 brackets and put it on my 74 without the rubber guards. Do you think it looks ok?  Sure is hard to put on by yourself and while leaving the rear pan on too. I kinda like it without the rubber guards on it.

Looks fine to me. My '73 will look exactly the same soon.

Bumper looks fine Alan....  but why not paint the fillers black?

I just bought the long filler on ebay a couple of weeks ago. Mine was cracked. I found some argent paint for it at advanced auto parts.  I really don't know how to paint very good and didn't want to mess things up. I painted the back section argent black. Does it look weird? I got semi gloss black and flat black too. I thought it all looked better then scratches and cracks was all. I paid for a complete paint job in advance, but am holding off till I get a new hood for the car. The body man said that this hood has waves and it would be having more bondo then the whole car has. I had him install 2 very small patches about 3x6 on the quarters and weld them in before he primed the quarters hot rod black untill I get the hood and a new front splash pan. He painted the new black pan. It's on the car right now. The color is 2005 dodge truck black. I figured new pans are easier to paint when off then on the car :2thumbs:

Usually the color is dictated by the color of the rear panel. In this case with black being the color of the car too I would definitly suggest black. If you are using a different texture/finish on the tail I would stay with that for the filler too.  :2cents:

Is that really a '73 bumper?  I don't see the bumper guard holes.  Which reminds me, I don't plan on re-installing the bumper guards when I replace the bumpers on my '73.  I could fill the bumper guard holes with bumper bolts, or I should I use a different year bumper?

Also, the tail panels painted black on '72-74s don't look quite right to me.  I plan to paint the tail panel body color (white) and repaint the buckets black, while leaving the lower silver panel argent (my entire tail panel is argent now).

I like it the way it is.
How about adding a silver bumble bee stripe?
I know that it never came with one,but it would be different.----THE CLOWN

I like it plain w/o the bumper guards. Mine is the '74 with the rear shot, posted by bullitt. I filled the rear pan where the bumper guards were

I just stuck bumper bolts in where the cushion bumpers were attached. I also painted the back the way it was when I got it. Black tail panel and gray filler. The front is painted the same way. I was wondering how it would look all argent silver back there, But I was considering painting the whole car all black with black stripes on the strobes and the rest chrome where ever it was before.
