Well, if it has dropped 20psi, I'd say it's not the drive. You have a clearance problem that is getting worse. My advice...it was all budget. Run it until it dies...I think you will seize it and lose the crank/rods before it flies apart and breaks something.

Do you happen to remember last December when I had a few valves smack a few pistons? Thinking a rod bearing got hurt or the like. Psi didnt change much after we fired it, but could possibly just have gotten worse as i've driven it. :bricks1: It'll gimme a sign before it totally grenades. . . .i hope.  :eek4:

Is the Cuda still at the body shop?    Might be a good time to pull the engine and give a freshening prior to this spring cruising season.....    :dunno:    :cooldancing:

Its still at the shop. Really OS at the moment I do have, what i would consider, better things to save up for as far as when I'm out of school on in a year. I have some faith in the mill, whatever happens, happens really. I'm not about to toss money at the 318 again really.  :-X

I remember now...lol. It's possible something was hurt. And now it's just taking it's toll. Really, once damage occurs to a bearing, the oil fim strength goes away. The more it's driven, the faster the wear occurs. I wouldnt waste much time on it either. You know it's going, so start saving...lol.

Couple of shims on the oil pressure relief spring might help raise the pressure a bit? Maybe??

Something to remember. Pressure=resistance to flow. You can get more by either adding volume to the same size hole. (keep in mind, the "hole" in this case is the oil clearancees around the lifters, the rod side clearance, and the crank journal to bearings) or you make the hole smaller and pump the same amount thru it. That's why the High Volume pumps were developed. To band aid engines that have a little wear due to normal use, but that are not worn to the point of damage. If Mike HAS the HV pump, and has a dropping pressure from when it was assembled. It's a negative change that shows damage somewhere. Again, assuming the gages are accurate.
