If you have the block, the rebuild is much less. If you don't have the block, UGH....  :money:

If you have all the original parts and it just needs a rebuild I can't see it cost more than 5,000.00.

A stock rebuild by a guy who knows Hemis will cost around $8K near me. If it needs rockers, add a lot more...lol.

I guess I'm ignorant on this subject, but why does it cost so much to rebuild a hemi vs a 440?

they sell less Hemi Pistons Valves ETC so the parts cost more & the rockers are generally over $100 each x 16 + the rocker shafts @ $100 x 4 + rocker pedestals at $500 / set

Because the parts boxes all say "hemi"  :roflsmiley:  Plus, the cranks are harder material, the assembly has some special steps, and that rocker system is hell to get set up "right." Not to mention the heavy table or special stand to assemble it on. None of my stands would hold an iron Hemi safely.
