air conditioning ???? classic air or vintage air
« on: January 14, 2007 - 07:21:24 PM »
hey guys have any of you all had any experience with classic auto air or vintage air??? i have a 72 challenger that wa s a original A/C car  but I am lookin to put all new components in it. The classic air compnay seems to me that they only cater to cars without air. Since mine has air i would have to modify the firewall and some other things. Any pros or cons would be greatly appreciated thanks

I would steer clear of Classic, I was in your position a year or so ago. Called them they told me their kit would have all the parts I needed and would bolt on using factory locations. I wanted to convert to a sanden compressor so I needed a bracket. Also told it would bolt right on no extra pulley or anything. Needless to say thats not what I got. Then I had to file a clain with VISA to get some responce from them. If your looking for brackets and all to fit correctly I would use Bouchillon performance. www.bouchillionperformance.com Just my  :2cents:

I am in same deal as you ,my car had air  all the stuff underhood had been removed. I bought my brackets from bouchillion, my sanden compressor I got on ebay. All my other parts came from ebay too. It just takes awhile to get everything. Im now waiting on my rebuilt heaterbox from funk brothers. Been a month hope they come thru soon. Good luck       :hyper:

Your right funk brothers is not cheap. I watched those heaterboxes sell forever on ebay, I coulded bring myself to buy one. Finally I decided to clean out the garage of extra parts and sell on ebay, came up with the money to buy one. My old box was cracked, evaporator was bad, Wasn,t even hooked up when I got the car.  Bill          :violin:

Shivvy guys like them cause thats what parts your gonna get. Seriously I had the SH** in my hands and what you get is a universal kit which is basically the same parts for all mopars. Even the instructions are generic. I had an original A/C car like you and wanted stuff to bolt on and not have to drill holes. They told me it was a bolt on kit.  :swear: Yeah it bolted on if I fabricated brackets and drilled holes. They make all kinds of stuff for the Shivvys. I ended up using a Bouchillon bracket for the compressor and a sanden compressor. Everything else is just like the factory installed it. If you don't have your original lines they also sell a kit with everything you need from the firewall forward. Just my  :2cents:.

Funk Brothers have had my hood and trunk latch now for almost two months  :stomp: They billed my card right away too. I also purchased a rear defroster knob from them which was cracked. Called them and they said another would be in the mail tomorrow and to send the other one back, two weeks now and still haven't recieved the item yet.

Did you buy the heater box from them on ebay? If so thats another bad deal were they sell somthing they don't have ready or complete.  :stomp:
