Good timing on this question. I am in the process of trying to decide whether or not to remove my vinyl top and have it painted. There are about 5 small bumps (rust) under mine and I am definately having the top removed. The question will be whether or not I put it back on. Just afraid that they will not be able to blend the top in with the rest of the car.

Vinyl top cut of the lines completely, the rear 1/4 flow above the wheel towards the roof is dead with a vinyl roof making it look like a 90 degree line. No shape. Plus it makes them look like rag tops which don't exactly scream muscle.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned the two tone cars yet, I would love one.

But if I had one choice, it would be a gator grain car with a sunroof.

I like the vinyl tops myself. I don't think rust is an issue anymore. These cars are not left out in the weather like they were 35 years ago. The OEM tops were very bad for holding water and rusting under them. Now days with limited use it shouldn't be an issue.

see here is a point of view....

I plan to drive mine as much as possible... so she will see hae share or rain and such... so are you going to put her in a garage(do you have one) or keep her out in the weather...
