Painted my ralley wheels this weekend
« on: January 30, 2007 - 01:04:21 AM »
I finally found the right argent metallic silver so I painted my rims this weekend, now have to paint the centers.  They will be fun to sand and prep, they are old rims, I sandblasted, epoxy primed and painted, they came out good.  They'll look a lot better with good tires, will put some on in a few days.  It sure is good to get something done, I'll post more as I get it done.  The cold and pain from the surgery a few months back slowed me down a little.  But I try to at least keep ideling right along.

What year are painting the centers? I always thought that the 71 year color was the best looking. Anyway the wheels look good with a fresh coat of paint. Good luck on project.

If you like the dark argent you should look into this paint I got it at Wal Mart and it works great. One can did all 5 centers with about 1/2 of the can leftover. The color on the bottom of the can says black but it dries to a dark Argent.

looks like it might be a good color for a tail panel if you are not going black or body color.

4speedman, those look awesome!  New tires are probably a good idea   :roflsmiley:

Rare, those center caps look real good too.  Krylon is my favorite cheap good paint.  That stuff dries fast, and covers very nice.

I sandblasted before painting, thry're going on my 72 Ralley Challenger I'm restoreing and must sell, wish I didn't have to sell her but lawyers ain't cheap!  I'll post more pictures as I get things done. These centers will be so fun to sand!  I wish they were like the 70 centers, oh I need two more 70 centers and 2 ralley rims for my Cuda.  I know the first picture is correct for 72 and I have four.  I also have a set of centers with the insert in the middle, second pic, what years were they used?  Thanks for the compliments about the rims.

I have an additional acorn center that takes a center...the center is missing,

I was told they came off of later model dusters...
