4-Speed Conversion

Wow, I've been away for a bit and was surprised this threat was still living    I cut the rest of my tunnel and it looks nearly the same as 71chmark's.  I'll try to document the conversion process and post pics as the work comes along.   Need to get the Z-Bar ball stud bracket welded to frame next, mount the pedals, then the car goes in for paint and body work so it may be a while before pics get posted on the install.  Guess I need to figure out how to post pics too

Thanks again for the help Chryco.  Here are a couple more pics related to this topic.  I purchased a conversion kit from Six Pack Performance here in Albuquerque.  Came with a rebuilt 833 and clutch, resurfaced flywheel, new clutch plates, bell housing, new pedals, Hurst shifter and Pistol Grip, Z-bar and all the other stuff needed for the conversion.  Now it's in my court to get it back to gether with the 10 million other parts that have to go back on the car

how much did that kit run you if you dont mind me asking? i have gotten quotes for 5200 (keisler 5 spd) and 4000 (brewers) so far

Check on eBay and see if mopar3401 still sells conversion kits.  I got one from him and it was first rate !  The shifter was especially nice, never seen one that pristine.  I'm pretty sure you can get one for under 2K

I paid $2,800 for my kit and can go down to the shop if I have a problem or something is missing!  Seen complete kits (A-833) for sale in Mopar Muscle magazine for $3,500 + shipping.  If you buy off of eBay, make sure you are getting the entire package you need.  I've seen some for auction with a BIN of $2,000 + shipping, but it was missing many parts (boots, z-bar brackets, springs, clutch for example).  There is a bit more risk buying off eBay.

I just need to get one for the least amount of $$ as I can but good quality. (you know, new kid, low ranking airman, these two things dont equate to a whole bunch of money)

he still has them apparently. did you have to get a clutch kit and the z-bar mounting stuff?

Pretty much got everything except the stuff you'd replace anyway, clutch disk, pressure plate, bearing.  It's been a couple years, so I'm not sure about the mounting brackets,  you should ask him first.  He was real easy to work with and the stuff was packed in a sturdy crate.
