Electric Fans

One of the blades on my original factory fan broke off last summer while driving, and by the grace of Father Mopar went straight down instead of up through the shaker hood.  I repalced it with an electric set up from Flex-a-lite and then it ran hot when the weather got above about 85 degrees.  Anybody had a similar problem ... then a solution?

I would go back to a factory clutch fan , they are far more efiicient than the electric fans

The reason I didn't is because I heard they will throw a blade at high RPM's ... like 6000 +.  Any thoughts?

I would have to agree with Chryco Psycho. 

I did a bunch of reasearch on this topic when I was thinking about an electric on my Challenger.  After a bunch of reading and finding other people's experiences, I determined that unless you are willing to have a hot running car in the summer time, then you need to stick with a mechanical fan.

Needless to say I went with the clutch type fan.

a properly working clutch fan will noty hit 6000 rpm , it should slip & run slower

Ahhhh ... a clutch fan.  Now that makes sense.  :banghead:   I didn't think mine came with one originally.  That's a no-brainer then ... thanks!
