Challenger Rallye Hood for Fiberglass version....
« on: November 21, 2006 - 08:44:17 PM »
Got the original Rallye hood for my challenger that I need to get rid of.  It weighs too much to do what I want.  I would like to trade for a fiberglass version if anyone has one....or maybe we could work out some kind of deal.

The hood that I have has a little surface rust around the scoops and some on the very front edge.  Other than that, it's straight, with no dents.

I'm located about 15 miles south of Raleigh, NC.

Thanks for looking,
Bryan :)

Just some surface rust with a little pitting, but none of it is all the way through.  The previous owner (of the car) had some oil leaks, so the underside has a nice protective coating on it...no rust, lol.  I'll try and get some better pics soon, the weather around here is supposed to be pretty crappy the next couple days, so it might take me until the weekend to get some.

www.VFNfiberglass.com  here are two versions they have, one is a pin on type that is lightweight and the other is made to install like stock with hinges. weight is 13 lbs. for the lightweight and 26 for the hinge type. price is $290 for lightweight and $450 for hinge type.

I'd look for some feedback on them, the nicest hoods I ever saw were aar fiberglass I believe, at Carlisle this year.  Just dont wanna get stuck with a pos thats all wavy.  I'm shopping for a ta hood myself.  Lots of places make glass parts, so might wanna checl for someone in driving distance.

i have found tons of TA glass hoods but not the R/T hood. i just wish that the pin on and the bolt on were closer in price.

That site has a lot of Mopar stuff for e-bodies, even a glass dashboard. I think a guy on moparnuts has used their stuff but I am not sure. 26 lbs. of glass for a hood is pretty meaty but I do not know about the quality though.

The AAR hoods ARE the best by far.  I have bought stuff from them before, and it's always been top quality.  The only hitch is, the AAR bolt on hood is about 550 bucks...

Oh, and it might be more than 23 lbs of glass, but it still beats 100 lbs of steel hood that we have now!!!

I'm still considering glass fenders and maybe more, figure it will be as much work to fix mine or smooth out the glass parts.  Weight savings starting with a hood would be nice, can't believe how much more these doors weigh than b-body doors!

Sold my steel hood.  Now it's time to get a fiberglass one.
