Door panel and door handle replacement.
« on: April 29, 2015 - 07:45:17 AM »
Hey guys,

I am going to be replacing my door panels and my outside door handles. Does any one have any step by step instructions for either of these parts?

Thanks!

Well for my cuda...
Remove the door panel screws along the sides and bottom.
Remove the bezel for the remote drivers side mirror if equipped.
Loosen the door lock lever in the arm rest.
Pop out the bottom clips of the door panel.
Pull panel slowly away from the door while lifting and managing around the inside door latch handle.
Once panel is removed, unclip the lever rod for the door handle.
Loosen the nuts for the door handle and remove.

I think that's it. If I remember right.  :2thumbs:

Pretty much what I do, except:

First thing I do is remove the inside door handle.
Pull it open to access the Philips head screw holding it.

My 74 door handle is held on with a hex head stud. Remove it before removing panel. No need to undo any lever rod.

The lever rod is for the outside door handle, not the inside door handle. He wants to replace the outside door handles.

But I did forget about the two screws that mount the arm rest/panel to the door.

Perfect you guys make this sounds pretty simple.

to access the outside door handles does the window need to be up?

Gotcha. I was just referring to door panel. Forgot about outside handles.
