Charging Sellers a Percentage
« on: February 08, 2007 - 10:15:40 AM »
I think that we should somehow start requiring some of these people a set percentage for selling their cars and other things here. I am talking about those that simply register for the sole purpose of selling us something (i.e. One post and that post is a 1970 Challenger for 38,000.00). Yes, this is a service to our membership to have them posting here, but it is a win-win situation - They are making out too. They aren't going through all of that to do any of us a favor.

If we tried to pull something like that, their response would just to either, (a) not post here or to (b) not tell us if it sold. The whole point, to them, is that this is free access to a large community of mopar enthusiasts. If they wanted to pay a commission, they would go to eBay or some other site. Besides, would that be the reputation that we wanted?

Just my  :2cents:.

I disagree, this is a community of mopar fans and for the most part everyone here is a valuable member.  We do occasionaly have people drop by to just sell a car, which isn't all bad since we have many people looking for cars here.  I think you were thinking right to raise some more money for the cuda fund, but I don't think this is a good option.

Just my thoughts.

I think the way it is works fine, but I also see the option of a fee as viable.  Maybe we could ask for a flat fee of $100.00 or something if the car sells through the site.  It would be voluntary of course, but maybe folks that make some cash from the site would be willing to "donate" a flat fee to the cause of they knew about it.....     :dunno:    :bigshades:    :cooldancing:

Old,
I think most people here probably would donate, I think the ones just dropping by probably wouldn't even know about it. Plus members that are selling their cars have some financial reasons.  I think we can probably come up with a lot of ways to raise more money for the fund.

I agree that advertising costs you something, even if it's free. I registered with this site so I could chat with other good Mopar people about Mopars.  One of the greatest things about sites like this one is the free advertising. I don't know how this site makes much money unless it's just from donations and pure die hards doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. Any business I receive generated from this site is appreciated and if the site wants something, just ask. I offer 10% discount to any CC member if they mention their member name.

Thanks, perhaps you could donate that 10% discount on parts to c-c.c members to this fund.   :dunno:

Wow, Its vendors like this that I would prefer to send my business to. With that type of outlook and honesty, you know what type of service to expect. Personally, I don't want discounts (the excellent service and fair price is more than enough) and would rather any discounts be donated to the site. Everytime that I make a purchase via the internet there is some aprehension and fear that I am going to get ripped off, but having vendors like this makes this hobby so much more enjoyable.

What if we would allow vendors to post their link here (endorse them) and in return any verifiable sales generated by the site we get a donation.
