With the 1G VIN, the engine is from a 1971 B-Body from the St. Louis plant. There is no way to know if it was an original Sixpak engine unless you can match the VIN up to the car it came from.  Some people think the the HP2 stamping is for sixpak blocks, but this is not true.

There is a thread in the engine section I believe with a lot of data on the subject.

Barry:  Thanks so much!  What would be a fair price to pay for such a motor?  Also how rare is this item?

Prices on rebuildable 440 cores vary quite a bit, the few that I i have sold or know that sold were in the $150.00 to $400.00 range. I am sure you will get some input from others here as well.

Price is set more by demand really. It's a good dated HP 440 block. SO to the guy with the '71 Superbee resto, it's worth more than the guy building a 500" for his '69 Dart. I pay a max of $200 for a bare std bore 440 block. Ususally much less. But I dont deal in resto parts...lol. So it's more likely to be a stroked fun engine than a dated resto with me.

I know there is a crazy guy in Oregon who has been posting blocks on ebay for 2-3k.  :screwy: Way too much money.
