North Carolina 1/4 Mile tracks?
« on: June 23, 2007 - 09:02:53 AM »
Hey all,
Moved down to Raleigh NC about a month ago and looking for some input on tracks in the area. Got some info on Piedmont, some good some bad. Trying to see if any of you are familiar with the tracks around here and what your input is. I don't have my Plymouth at the moment. So I won't be competing. Just attending. Its actually in a barn. Hopefully in better shape than some of the cars I've seen in the photos Cars in Barns. LOL. But looking to kill some time until I get my family down here with me.
Thanks in advance...

Go to NHRA & IHRA web sites under track listings, keep in mind that all are not listed and there are alot of 1/8 tracks hidden in the weeds.... Haven't been down that way since the 70's.....

There are (4) 1/4 mile drag strips in NC and bunch more 1/8 mile strips. Ther are at least (3) 1/8 mile strips within about a 30 mile radius of Raleigh. One is Wayne County Dragstrip and another is Dunn-Benson dragstrip. There is Cumberland dragstrip right in Raleigh which is listed as a 1/4 mile strip. I've never been to any of these, just some info I pulled up. Check out this site for some drag strip info. I have found it very informative. it is: http://www.dragcars.com/html/drag_strips.html  Hope you find a good one. Let us know!!  :2thumbs:

Rockingham is definitely one that i have plans on going to see. I just heard about another one that is just north of Durham. Its 1/8 mile but still something worth going to check out. i figure with the 456's on the car I should be able to do a decent 1/8 once i get the car down here.
