'73 challenger 4 speed.
« on: June 23, 2008 - 11:33:53 PM »
I just bought this car today thinking it was just a regular 340 auto combo.  I was very suprised when I looked at the tag and other clues on the car.
Here is a partial fender tag listing:

            26    EN2
J54 M21 N41 N42 R11 V5X
JF8   U  B41 C16 C56 H51
JF8 A6F6 000 B20 233225
E55 D21 JH23 H3B 24----

It is a 4 speed car with AC.
I have decoded the car, but I just wanted to double check everything.

If it is not too much trouble, what is the complete decode on my tag?
When I get some spare time I am going to search for the broadcast sheet.  Besides under the rear seat, where are some other good places to look

Places to look: taped to top or back of glovebox, front seat backs, bottom front seats, under rug, rear seat back.

I'll see if I can dig up some codes....  :chatting:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Thanks Super Blue.  I just wanted to double check my own decoding info I had on my computer.  That is the same info I recorded.  The only difference I got was on the J54 code.  Mine has that as the sport hood and/or hood insulation.  The car does have the rallye hood on it, and it has green paint on it.  Could that be the code for it?

I will look in those places you listed for the build sheet.  I posted some pics of the car in my introduction post.

The J54 code for '70-'71 I think was for sport hood so I chose the hood insulation code.

I could be wrong, but if the '72s are like the '73s, then if the car was ordered with a 340, then you automatically got the rallye hood, dual exhaust, and chrome tips, so that hood more than likely is the stock hood for your car.
