Some Questions - 72 vs 70 Interior

OK, I have a parts car to donate some frame rails and such and I also need some interior items.  What are the differences between a 72 steering column and 70.  I would guess the lock out of some type, but not sure how.  Also, I have a 72 up ralley gauge cluster.  I know the reset knobs are in different location, anything else different?  Can you convert the cluster to a 70 easily?  Are the value of the 72 up parts enough to offset what is probably extremely high 70 items?  Thanks.

As far as the gauges go, the '72 and up Rallye gauge tach is only up to 7,000 RPM where as the '70-71 is up to 8,000 RPM.  I would think you could convert the tach but don't know how easy to do.  There is company calles RT Specialties or something that rebuilds gauges.  Maybe they can give you some insight on swapping the tachs. 

If it really matters how "correct" items are, you may want to hold out for the '70 gauges, IMO.  If not, just use the '72 gauges.   :2cents:

the 70 column had a lever to rotate the column so it coul d be locked & the key removed , 71 up used a spring inside the column to do this
