car craft
« on: October 06, 2003 - 04:57:06 PM »
Did anyone see the recent carcraft.   $2500 build up   the cheby made a tad bit more power, then mopar, then last and least ford.   The funny thing is the 360 always makes more power in every build up, so they put a $2500 (cheby parts are cheap, You get what You pay for) limit on it so that the cheby makes a few more ponys.     If you can't beat a Mopar Cheat....  Chevy owners must have complained a lot.

Maybe they should take a 350 cheby and a God of all smallblocks, besides the 340, a 360  use the same compression, same pisons, same rings, same pan, same flowing on head, same cam grind profile and builder.  ect ect. and tell the truth. Mopar is God.

I understand cheby and Mopar parts are different, same manufacture.

Back in 1970 I worked w/ a bunch of Chevy nuts who were pretty big into street racing.  I had a new '70 Cuda 383 hp w/ 3.23 & man 3 spd. That included Corvettes, Z28s, SS Impalas, SS Chevelles, 454 ElCaminos, Chevy 2s w/ up to 454s., & a 69 GTO Judge.  The ones I raced I beat pretty handily, both on drag & top end.   The rest didnt want any part of my car.  That also includes a '66 SS Chevelle w/ a built 454 ( by a shop in Roanoke built to 474 ci, it idled about 1100 rpm.) Dont even talk about FOMOCOs. My car was 100% totally stock just like it came from the factory, & most all of these guys couldnt say that.  It didnt help them anyway.  I believe many of these mag tests are rigged in favor of the GM cars anyway, but back in the "60s & '70s, the Mopars were still fastest most of the time in spite of that.   When you start talking about all out building, all of them can be made to run, but on equal ground, they still have to look at Mopar tail lights.   Ovmf

I think that some idiot with a 1500hp 350, thinks its bad ass.  On a show about drag racing I saw they had a 4. something 4.2 I think it was 4 banger that made 4000 hp yes 4 and 3 0's, granted It didn't have a class to race in, but with time and money you can do anything.

A Top Fuel 500" motor makes over 7000hp, the 815 hemi makes like 1500hp, make the 815 as bad as a TF 500 and you might make over 10,000 hp ;D ;D,  Then again strap a saturn rocket to your ass and have over 1 million Horses..............
But the Saturn are hard on fuel ;)
