Interior Kick Panels?
« on: March 16, 2007 - 12:03:37 AM »
Members,

When an E-body had the white interior, were the kick panels white or black?  I know that the front door and rear panels as well as seats were white, and that the carpet, console and dash were black.  I've seen pictures of vehicles with this interior and most often the kkick anels are black, however, not in all pictures.  I'm talking about pictures on the web as well as pictures used in some of the better books available that chronicle the history of E-bodies.  If it makes any difference, I'm specifically interested in 1970 Challengers and its interior, but I think this would pertain to all E bodies with the black/white (salt n' pepper) combo.

Thanks, Joe

My car is a '70 Challenger Convert (white top).  So, you're saying that my car should have (even with a white rag-top) black kick panels with black "A" pillars?  I never would have thought that the "A" pillars would be black?

The reason for the black kick panels is pretty simple - ever had dirty shoes when you get into a car?  Wonder what would do to white kick panels...  Same reason white interior cars have black carpet.

On ragtops the black a-pillar trim basically carries through from the dash to the underside of the top and header panel.  White would look really out of place.

Black.   I just redid mine.  They came out pretty good.  I'll post a pic a little later.
