ECU wiring question
« on: April 17, 2023 - 05:54:15 PM »
I'm finishing up installing an American Auto Wire kit on my 1970 cuda and have a question about power to the coil and ECU (electronic control unit). I have an electronic distributor from Mancini racing, part number P4120505.

There are 2 wires that run to the coil in the kit. A pink heavy gauge wire and a brown wire and a brown wire, used for cranking.

The pink heavy gauge wire in the kit states, "If using an HEI distributor or after-market ignition system which requires a 12 volt feed: Route this wire to the position (+) side of the coil.

The brown wire states, "Route the brown wire to the positive (+) side of the coil. This will supply ignition voltage to the coil in the "cranking mode."

My ECU states: "The main ignition feed to the ECU wire must have 12 volts supplied whenever the ignition key is in the start position."

Would I be able to splice into the brown wire to feed the ECU with power to the unit? I'm glad to help provide wiring diagrams and other information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
