The red wire goes where??
« on: March 31, 2007 - 12:24:33 PM »
I think I found my problem on my 73 Barracuda. Took the alt. off to be tested and the red wire that mounts to the alt. pulled out. This is the wire that hooks to the BATT terminal on the alt. Where does it belong? inside the main harness??
 A little help please.

it goes to the bulkhead connector at the firewall, to your amp gauge, out your amp gauge, then ends up back to the starter relay. There is a fusible link before the starter relay.

Red wire  :clueless:
typically you have 2 16 guage wires 1 blue & 1 green & a single 10 guage wire typically black

C.P. you are correct right down to the colors! The red wire in question appeared not to be attached to anything! The loose end was not stripped to expose any bare wire.I am leaving this wire off like it never happened. No idea what has happened over the years.....
 Thanks
