motor city reman mini starter

hey guys i have a 440 with TTI headers and i tried putting on my mini starter but it rubs the block. Thestarter is alot smaller and lighter but the spot where you attach your hot wire and ground sets off the the block side to far and it rubs. Has anyone else has this trouble?? if so what didi u do ?? any help would be appreciated .

 :bricks1: i thought i was gonna get to hear  the car run finally tonight then i ran in to this starter problem :clueless:
the starter came form motorcity reman.com has anyone used them in the past????

Yep!!  Had that problem!  It wouldn't mount up there 'cause it was rubbing on the block so I took a small little grinding wheel and took alittle meat off the block where it rubbed.  Pain in the you know what!   :banghead:   But it worked.  :thumbsup:

oh great someone else has already dealt with this. i thought it was just a junky starter or a cheaper version. thank you so much for the info. so you didnt modify the starter but just ground a lil metal off the block sounds great

Yep thats right.  Took maybe a half an hour.  Then the starter was tight but fit in there and I haven't had any problems!    :grinno:  :thumbsup:

The only problem I had was there was some kind of extension for the terminals that got in the way. I had no problem after I removed the extension.

I agree , on big blocks I remove the extention housing , pry the black plastic cover off & unbolt the extension

that is the ticket!!!!!! I called motor city reman and they told me that the extension housing could be removed. I didnt know this at first but now that starter fits like a glove so hopefully within the next week ro so I will have fire !!!!!!!!!! If anyone is lookin for a starter , motorcityreman.com has big block starters for 119.00 which is the cheapest place i found them and all you have to do is remove the extension housing. thanks for help guys/ gals
