6 pack carbs
« on: March 21, 2007 - 06:54:26 PM »
I got a set of carbs off an engine I just bought. I have not decided if I want to run them on my 340 or to sell them. They are Holley numbers 4782 (center) and 4783 (outboard). From what I understand Ford was running these carbs with vacuum operated outboard carbs, and then when they stopped Mopar offered them as competition carbs and converted the outboards to mechanical linkage. They look very similar to standard mopar 6 pack carbs except that the fuel rail is on the drivers side and not the passenger side. Here are a couple of pictures of them on my 440. I am ordering new Holleys for the 440. Any thoughts?

While at Mopars at the Strip this past weekend I found out that these carbs are marine carbs.

Phil Fish is the guy you want to talk to. He knows everything about the six pack carbs, how to set them up for your specific car to run perfect. If you're interested in selling them, he might be able to help you with that as well.

i prefer these carbs rather than vacum operated outboards.because they have accellerator pumps on outboards means no lag when they open, throttle response is instant.IMO these are performance carbs compared to standard type.why not try these carbs before buying the vacum type if originality isnt a factor, these are way more fun.....aussie

On my challenge originality is considered, but is not the real priority. The car is what I would consider a 72 challenger T/A if chrysler had built one and the gas crunch had not hit, so these carbs are a better choice for my application. Now the 70 cuda that the engine the carbs are currently on is going to be correct, so that car will get "correct carbs."

My carbs have no bog to them. When tuned right, they work excellent, and take the fuel when needed. Auto trans are more forgiving with a mechanical pump and big stalls. With my 4 speed the power is there when I need it
