XV Motorsports' lower radiator support brace...
« on: April 19, 2007 - 11:00:28 AM »
On XV's site, it APPEARS that the whole lower radiator support was removed and replaced w/the stiffening brace???

WHile some has kept it?

Any pros/cons to either method?

They each have their pros and cons. I personally would choose the second methond given the choice. Just to keep from disturbing the original metal.

Well the stock rad wouldnt be able to sit down in fully with the stock piece still there.  There was soe discussion about this before.  I like the look with the factory piece there, but theres the rad issue.

Really?  So the radiator won't fit if you leave the stock piece in?  I ordered it so maybe it'll come w/instructions.  XV hasn't been responsive to my e-mails. :stomp:

Thats my understanding from what I read, plus look it obviously is a few inches above the bottom of the rad support.

Good point. I didn't think of that since I'm not running a stock rad, my configuration is different.

Do I run into problems with clearances if I fabricate some stiffening below the original lower radiator support? Is there supposed to be anything under it? Even with couple of inches thick brace the lowest point of the car should be elsewhere? I have hard time imaging how it would be because it's the first e-body I've working with and its almost two years when I took it apart.
