'74's are a combination shoulder and lap harness (similar to today's styles) I have them on my '74 and since they stick once in a while, they can be a real pain (plus, you have the "lockout" where if the passenger isn't buckled, the car won't start!

Does anyone know how to "free up" sticky seat belt retractors on a '74?   Are they hard to take apart (anyone ever tried it?)  Any advice?
Thanks

I just reach inside the retracter cover and push the button.  It's ugly but it works  :dunno:

360cuda -- there's a button?   Are you talking about the front shoulder/lap belts on a '74?    If so, I'll have to give it a try -- I didn't know there was a "button"  (all this time I just kept pulling and releaseing and pulling and releasing)   :horse:

You have to loosen the plastic cover and reach up in there with your finger.  You can feel the little catch thingy that locks up the belts. Just slide it to one side and pull out the belt in one motion.
Not the best way but it works

Thanks for the tip --   Do you know if those can be lubricated or repaired?   I assume they are spring loaded in some manner -- (is it going to be like the old "snake in a can" if you open it up??)     :wow:
