pertronix kit
« on: January 11, 2007 - 02:29:12 PM »
Hi guys.  I plan on putting pertronix in my car.  '71 383.  From what I found, JEGS has the best price.  $75.  What Im asking is, is this the kit I want?

Pertronix Ignitor Kits
1959-75 Chrylser Applications
751-1381A

Look halfway down this link

Any other pointers I need to know?

Thanks in advance  :2thumbs:

I put the Pertronix kit on my L72 427 Impala and it ran great.  Got it from my local speed shop for about the same price.

I believe that is the same kit my brother has in his 69 Coronet.  It is just 2 wires to hook up.  He hasn't had any problems with it.

make sure you hook the red power wire to the blue 12v circuit at the ballast or voltage reg
Do not hook it to the coil + terminal as you will only get maybe 8v at the coil & the pertronics will cause problems with 8v power feed

hey 71 BB...I was wondering if you did the install. I'm thinking about doing it also and was wondering what you thought about it.
Did you get their coil and wires also?

Nope, almost did the other day, there was a vendor at a car show that sold them.  I asked them and he said he didnt bring any with.   :banghead:  He said they sold for under $70, the cheapest I have found.  Im not sure if I will get the coil and wires also, what would be the advantages?  Im real close to buying the kit, its just a matter of driving to the place, about an hour away.

I wish he had it, I couldve told you how it went.   :sadwavey:

If you get it, be sure to let me know how it went

Hey CC, I just got it put in last night.  Runs awesome!  I can really tell the difference.  Doesnt miss at all like it did before.  Lot better spark, and very easy to install.  Only took me about a half hour in 25* weather.  And that was on a big block, a small block would be much easier.  Just thought I'd let eveyone know that I think its $$ well spent.  I guess I'll know more when the dang weather clears up and I can take er for a spin.   :burnout:

thanks for the update. What parts did you do?
Just the distributor or did you get the matching coil and sp wires etc..?
Mines a B.Blk. too.

I ended up getting just the parts that go in the stock dist.  Someday maybe towards the start of summer I'll get matching coil + wires.   :2thumbs:
