AAR Hood
« on: March 02, 2007 - 05:42:38 PM »
What aftermarket AAR hoods have any of you guys had experience with good or bad.  What about the hood on this car, it looks a little taller than stock.  Any idea who makes it.  I do need whatever hood I find to be a hinged hood.  Thanks, tyler

That hood and the entire car was built by Muscle Car Restoration in Wisconsin. I saw it last summer at the Car Craft Nationals in St. Paul and it is very nice. The hood is carbon fiber and is available but I'm sure its spendy! Click the following link http://www.musclecarrestorations.com/tunis.html for more pictures.

I bought an AAR hood at a swap meet but not sure who made it.it is more of a race wieght hood and I am slicing it and raising the scoop about 1-1 1/2 ".I am pinning mine on so you need to find a heavier street/resto type hood if you want it hinged. There are a few places to get them, not sure on the quality of them.

I have been looking for the best hood for awhile and haven't gotten the definitive answer so I can only assume the Year One hood is what I am going to get.
It says on the website that the hinges are to only be used for display purposes. Does using them all the time cause that hood bow that I see on so many AAR hoods?

IIiieeeeeyyyyhhhhh!! I would only use these guys if they were the absolute last and only fiberglass supplier on earth, and then it would be a toss up of whether or not I wanted to try it myself first.

AAR, VFN, US Body Source are all much better choices. Even MAS and Unlimited are better.
