Power window conversion
« on: April 18, 2007 - 02:36:03 PM »
I was checking out the power window conversions for the E-bod, and in my research, I found new (reman) motors for cars with existing power windows. So i got to wondering, if you add the motor and gearing (and all accoutrements) to an e-body that has manual cranks, wouldn't you have power windows? The question is, is there any difference between the balance of the window system? Does anyone have any good pics or diagrams of how the window mechanism goes together? If you do, we can figure it out from there. Also, those motors were used in more than just 70-74 e-bodies. So they should be readily available.

the window regulator is different for power windows , otherwise all parts interchange , so ultimatly you will need regulators , switches & wiring to swap  , to clarify the elecric motors cannot be attached to crank style regulators

electric life has the setup,  i both front & back; the back are for custom setups since electric life said it was 2 difficult to reproduce the originals

my custom shop was unable to custom fit the backs and we are going to order new replacement motors for the backs

Yeah, I've seen the electric life setups. Then when i was searching around, I saw a couple of orignal power setups, and from memory, they looked just like the manual style.

Conversion kit it is! Thanks guys.
