roadrunner lift off hood problem
« on: April 20, 2007 - 07:34:39 PM »
I am almost done with the roadrunner. I installed the lift off hood bumpers on the fenders but they make the hood sit about 1/4 to 3/8 to high. Is there a special rubber bumper or do the hoods sit high until they get some time to wear in? I hope to install the hood pin tomarro. When I push down where the pins are it still sits high in the center.
Thanks
Todd

When I did mine I didnt use the bumpers.  Is it an aftermarket hood?  All I used to hold mine up was rubber hose over the pins, cut to length.  With a liftoff hood you dont really need any bumpers since theres no hinges that have to be guided in place.  I'd think if you look on ebay or somewhere for pics you could find good underhood shots to see if they do look different, but like I said cant see needing them.

I'm restoring an A12 Bee right now. I'll have to look at some of the pics, but I don't remember any rubber bumpers missing. Hood height is controlled by cutting sections of heater hose and sliding it over each hood pin.

No side rubber wedges on this one. the rears are the same as a hinged hood. the front adjusters have a smaller/ different rubber bumper over the adjuster screw.
Here's some pics for reference:
