Prices dropping?
« on: April 16, 2007 - 10:29:34 AM »
Anyone else notice that lately classics haven't been going for the ridiculous prices they used to be a year or so ago?

It's tax season, and I am still seeing an increase in prices, just no where near the increase that we have had in the past several years.

Just saw a Challenger on a used car lot close to me.  :22yikes: Had to stop and get a better look.
Don't see many of them around. looked like a 72 or 73. Tubbed out with a 440 and roll cage. Price is $17,995 and it has been there a few weeks now.

I dunno.  Depends.

The $10-20k market is still hot and it's the bondo/rust bucket pigs going for that money.

The $50-? market is a bit tough right now.  'verts still commanding big money,   but the folks w/money are now looking at rotisserie restos and documentation.

Market for customs kinda soft.  Wild paint jobs and interiors are big money losers.

i have seen the public very picky with what they buy today. many just buy as an investment car not  a hobby car. i think the market is flooded with "real" cars that ppl are scared to pay $50,000 for a phony car in the end. I'm a chevy fan also and i heard that barrett jackson has sold some fake cars. acuple of corvettes. they were listed as a 64 (i think) and a true tri power 427 car. the figures show that there are 3 times more tri power 427 cars then originally produced. they are trying to make them out to be real also. market is to risky way i see it....

A local dealership has a 72 'Cuda with a 340 - exactly what I used to drive in High School - guy wants $32,000 for it.  It's been there for months.

Don't worry. Someday the vehicle appreciation will catch the asking price of the vehicle. :grinyes:

I think thats too much. I bought my car less than a year ago for less than half of that price and I thought it was expensive. Mine is far from perfect but it is in pretty decent condition with a transplanted 340. Unless that car is in perfect condition I thinks its over priced.
