So is there anyone near Kentucky who'd be willin' to grab the 383 for sale up on Ebay and crate it for me so I can have Fedex pick it up?  The seller doesn't want to crate it...  :(

And thanks everyone - you guys are awesome.

Just thought'uva 'nother question:

How much of a pain in my a$$ is it going to be to get a 383 to fit in the 'Cuda?  I mean there's a bit of room between my fan and radiator, but the distributor is already tucked up against the firewall.  How much longer than a 318 is a 383?

A 383 fits easy and the distributor on a big block is at the front of the engine. Just remember you'll need a big block 727, a new exhaust and you may need to upgrade your current radiator.

:iagree:

The 318 and 383 use the same K-member so you will only need the correct engine mounts to install it.
Just remember that nothing will swap between the 318 and 383.

Also, if you have stock torsion bars, then you might want to upgrade to the bigblock versions to help with the added weight.  Just a thought.

Yeup - fully aware of needing to upgrade the trans.  Torsion bars was part of the plan anyways.  And yeah - I know nothing will swap over.  I plan on building the 383 up on my own, and when it's alllllll ready, rippin' out the 318 and dropping in the 383.  Of course I'll have the suspension done up by then, and will put in the trans at the same time.

There's a 383 block up on Ebay, but the guy doesn't want to stick it on a pallet and let Fedex pick it up.  It ends in three hours...  I freakin' want it!
