Numbers and more numbers
« on: May 15, 2007 - 04:04:37 PM »
I am aware of the numbers like dash vin sticker on the back of the driver’s side door
fender tag vin  engine vin transmission vin body in on the cowl  body vin on the radiator support.
Now I am told that the tail panel on a 70 Challenger will also have a number somewhere on the top edge. Is this also the vin or a parts number? I don't have my car here or I would go out and look. What other numbers are hidden away?

There are stamped numbers throughout the car. Most are date coded panels and not part numbers. Serial numbers do appear in several locations and each body style being in a different location. As far as a serial  # on the tailpanel, I have never seen one. Part numbers were painted on replacement panels. I hope this helps. I do not know all and I'm sure someone will add to my discription and I'll learn something new. That's what is cool about this site! :2thumbs:
