Radiator
« on: April 21, 2007 - 09:24:17 AM »
Somebody on this list has used a Griffin Aluminium Radiator in their E-Body. I need a 22" wide unit for a BB 400 Stroker in my Chally. Can anybody help with the catalog number I need as their are so many choices? The prices are all over the map as well - for example Summitt have a Be-Cool universal fit 22" for $279 and I have seen the Be-Cool listed model specific for over $500. What is the difference?
If anyone can provide me with feedback on what they think about what they are using, how good it cools (under continuous load eg), any problems with cracking etc. I will mount mine on soft aircraft type mounts, and seal the gap, as the body flex under acceleration is fairly significant. Surely that twisting force is transmitted to the rad under these circumstances if it is hard mounted to the rad support.  :-\

Thanks in advance

JVike - do you have the part number for the rad you used please? Your radiator fit looks great....and so does the car.

No, I don't. I bought it from a friend that had it laying around. Anyways the wateroutlets are not the same on small blocks and big blocks. The radiator is a universial type. I know it was bought at Summit Racing.

the BeCool universal does not have any flanges welded on, the higher priced unit has  the mounting flanges and can easily be bolted up to the core support. Here is a picture of my BeCool.

Thanks for all the replies/help folks. CP has got me an aluminium universal welded one coming. Good price too. It is 26" wide so will be adapted to my 22" opening.
