Antique car Battery

I am getting ready to buy a new battery for my 67 GTX. I am looking for a original group 27 with the red tops. I bought one years ago from a place called New Castle Battery but I can't seem to find them. Any suggustions on where or how much they run now??

I called both and the price was the same. $ 255.00. That is double what I paid 10 years aqgo. I guess it is off to Sears I go. That is alot of money for something that will last only 2 or 3 years. I kept my old one so I guess I will just use that when I go to shows and swap them out.

You can always go to Sears then get one of those toppers that they sell in the Paddock and elsewhere to make it look like an old batterie. Save you some$$$.

That price quote sounds like it's for the modern sealed type battery in the old style case. They will usually last 4-5 years, just like the modern batteries. I purchased an old type wet acid battery for $140 just last November.

It was antique auto battery...maybe the prices went up since last year.

C'mon Al, pony up and be correct   mine have always lasted 5-10yrs, but I charge them every other month when not in use and never leave them connected.

Yea I Know I am getting cheaper in my old age. I have bought 3 of the correct ones since I restored the car 14 Years ago. The first one lasted 5 years from New Castle.  Then I bought another one from Antique Auto Battery and it lasted 2 years. They blamed me for not keeping it charged . I took care of it the exact same way as I did the first one that lasted 5 years. After going round and round they pro rated it and I bought another one which lasted 3 years. That is when I gave up and went to walmart. They were 1/3 the price and lasted 5 years.
How you got 10 years out of a battery is amazing..
