Coversion 318 3-speed to 340 4-speed
« on: May 04, 2004 - 10:07:11 AM »
What would be involved and the approx. cost to convert a 71 Chally 318 3-speed to a 340 4-speed. I have the 340 and supposedly the car has 3.91 sure grip in it already. What would be the major issues?

Thanks!

If you're going to go through the exense of buying a 833 four-speed, spend a little more and get a Keisler conversion 5-speed.

Hell, w/a 3.91 rear end, you'll need it.

Triple_green,

I'm about to do the same thing to my Road Ruster.  I believe all that is needed is a 4-spd bellhousing, a 4-spd ( 833 OD's are cheap and durable ) a shifter & linkage, shift boot.  Haven't started yet, so I'm not real sure, but I think the rest is the same.
