the plugs are a piece of cake...if you go under the car for some of 'em!
It makes it so much easier. and how tough is it to get the floor jack and a couple of stands out?

Another Trick is to use a vacuum hose , slide it onto the end of the spark plug & thread the plug in or out with it

Hey Chryco, did you see my post?   ???

Thanks

That is what I put in.  RN14YC.  No good?  What did I mess up?   :walkaway:

The reason I put those in is because when I went to the parts store, a 1971 383 wasnt listed in the Champion book.  So we agreed to go with the 1970, figured it was the same thing.  The book called for RN14YC, he even showed it to me to double-check.   :dunno:  :walkaway:

RN series plugs are for Small blocks  & Hemis , you are extremely lucky not to hit the pistons with a deep reach plug
Get them out , the book is incorrect you need a J series plug

On the side of the road or on loose gravel?

I would rather always do it from the top. To make things easier I bought a cheap plug wrench and shortened it. Makes life very easy with headers but I have not tried it on standard exhaust manifolds.

You can also use a stubby 13/16 combo wrench on the box end for some of the tougher ones. Bought one specifically for changing plugs on my 440
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

I'm not sure why you'd tune your car on the side of the road (dangerous) or in gravel :dunno:
On this side of the pond there's generally some flat concrete available

In the past I've had excellent luck with Bosch Platinums, alltho I found Champions in the Hemi today. This will change...

in testing we actually found the opposite , the more you spent on plugs the more power the engine LOST on the dyno , the best power eas made with Champs & Autolite plugs

That must be you with the dirty shirt.

You never had a problem on the road and had to stop to find out what it is? Lucky you! :grinyes:

Plus at some of our drag tracks the ground is pretty filthy and sometimes even just WET gravel. All the pro boys get the concrete and asphalt. :(
