What's a Marlin?
« on: May 10, 2007 - 04:28:45 PM »
I was talking to a guy the other day that has a 67 Marlin for sale. He showed me a photo of it, and it is very nice. 383 automatic on the floor. So my question is, what is a Marlin? It looks like a Barracuda fastback. Someone told me it was the Dodge version. Someone else told me that it is an AMC. I didn't ask him who made it. He doesn't want much for it, and it's a cool looking car, so I was justwondering if it would be worth picking up.

Any info as to rarity and value would be greatly appreciated.

A marlin is an atempt to look like a 66 charger. It is an AMC  American motors. Like the charger, some love them and some don't. I never seen one with a 383 in them.

Oh come on guys, Marlins are neat cars. And they weren't trying to look like the Charger. They came before the Charger. They are very popular amongst AMC enthusiasts and are going up in value. I'd snag it if it's a cheap. I think the 66 front ends are the best looking. The front ends of the 67s pictured above arent' that great, but not terrible.

I don't think American Motors made a 383--They did however make a 327.

Look at the emblem on the trunk, it reminds me of the 69 Barracuda emblem somewhat.
