I'm so sick of hearing about global warming. Just because the hype is there doesn't mean it has an relivance. For every "scientist" on the tree hugging side, there are 20 refuting the "facts". I went round and round with people on this on another board. Yes, it's a conspiracy (conspiracies do exist folks...hel-looo). If it weren't, they would admit what the true sources of hydrofluorocarbons are (which haven't even been proved to hurt the ozone)which are factories world wide. Did you know that all the vehicles on the earth only contribute about 10% of the hydrocarbons? Hmmm, sounds like a crisis to me for sure. Also, those of you who have been reading Mopar Collectors Guide since its beginnings may remember these stories from back in the mid nineties: One article was on a new process that Chysler had developed whereby gasoline exhaust was broken down into four stages (I don't remember what the process was), whereby the only thing coming out of the tail pipe was water vapor. Saab developed a system (using current gasoline) whose tailpipe emmisions were CLEANER THAN THE AIR AROUND THE CAR. Where are these systems? Why weren't they highly publicized??? Hmmm, no conspiracy here. Can't be.
They aren't concerned about cleaner running engines. They want the internal combustion engine squashed and have been doing everthing they can, worst of all creating near panic about the environment, to get to that end. There is absolutely no concrete evidence to "prove" that we are hurting the atmosphere. And if we are, it's factories faults, not the fault of our beloved gasoline engine.

I don't think the big issue here is the environment. Don't get me wrong, the environment is important, I just don't think it's the major issue. I think it's the fact that we are addicted to oil, and unfortunately, we are at the mercy of greedy big oil companies, and people from countries who hate us. You see what happens every time there is some obscure rumor, or exchange of words with countries like Iran. The price of gas jumps. Then we have aging refineries, and "repair problems", etc. All it will take is one problem in the right place, and our whole economy can come tumbling down around us. How would it change your life if gas went up to $10+ per gallon?

Also, I'm not talking about replacing our classic cars, I'm talking about your every day driver, whether it's a Challenger, SUV, or pickup.

Global warming or not, smog and pollution is huge, especially in the US, China, UK & Japan. If it's doing anything to our earth (I believe it is most definitely, don't need scientists to inform me of this) that's not really the issue, plain cold hard truth is smog and pollution are in the tonnes in city areas like LA (below) which has a heavy smog and pollution law and yet is still hazing like a night out on the booze. So, these cars will help, no question about it. If you think otherwise you really need to wake up and smell the fresh air or polluted air depending on where you live.

Argue all you want about global warming, but the one fact that I can't get past is that all the cars, factories, power plants etc. only account for LESS than 3/10 of 1% of the greenhouse gasses.  That's it !  If you want to sell your children's future to combat an imaginary problem that we aren't even contributing too, more power to you.  As for me, I'm fighting this ignorance tooth and nail.
 :villagers:

Now smog & pollution in urban areas is a different matter, electric cars will use more coal to produce that electricity, so where's the savings in that?  Maybe after the nuclear power plants get running again, then electric cars will make some sense.

Alot of ways to make electric power..Hydro, wind, solar, nuclear, and who knows,, maybe hydrogen fired generators in the future.. I truly feel it is the wave of the future, and
if somebody can make cars that will travel 200-300 miles per charge, I would probably want one.

I like 0-60 in less than 4 seconds.. Bi*chin!!!  I will be one of the first figuring out how to disconnect the front motors so that I can fry the Rear Tires!!!

I'm sure that there sould be aftermarket switches to do that. Just remember, you'd only have like 320HP left in the back wheels!

With our weather in New York, i have no problem driving around emptying a can of Aqua Net Super Ultimate hold with 33% more if it means 80 degrees all winter long.
