Hopefully an easy one
« on: May 17, 2007 - 07:46:07 PM »
I am just wanting to know what year my 318 is, so that I can order the correct gasket kit.  It's in my 66 Barracuda, and the guy I bought it from told me that it came from an 80's van.  The numbers on the front of the block are PM318R 2816.  Could someone tell from that what year it is?  From my searches I believe the P will be the year :dunno:, but I don't know what year it represents.  Thanks.

If I counted right, P is the series (model year) 1979.

Well, I had to start with 1970 and count up;

F = 1970
G = 1971
H = 1972
I = 1973
J = 1974
K = 1975
L = 1976
M = 1977
N = 1978
O = 1979
P = 1980

Good thing I typed it out too, P is actually the 1980 model year.  :banghead:
