1971 R/T blackout
« on: May 19, 2007 - 12:52:06 AM »
I painted my rear taillight panel black for the original R/T blackout.  But with my bumper on, it shows some of the orange paint just in between the bumper and the panel on the sides where the end of the bumper comes into the quarter panel.  Did I not paint enough?  I followed the original engineering drawing on the historical site.  Dunno...anyone post pics of theirs?

Is the bumper not right or something?!  can't figure out why it looks funky.

This is an old pic, but it doesn't look like you are far off.

I'll see if I have some pics but I think the gap between the trim and the bumper is quite a ways off, s/b maybe 1/3 of that.

I have no clue about '71, but here is one that shows original paint and blackout on a '70;

Darn...I followed how it was really suppose to be done in the engineering drawings instead of how it was actually done in the factory :smilielol:

I beleive you have it right. That's the way mine is. The pictures don't show the detail as well as I thought they might.

Stacked,

  I took a good look at my car today. I really don't think your gap is much bigger than mine. It's just with your lighter color body paint, it shows more in the gaps. Just my opinion.  :2cents:
