72-74 Challenger full quarter fitment and quality review
« on: May 19, 2007 - 02:24:40 PM »
Just "dropped" the Driver's side  quarter on my car -

Heres how it went:

The only see two issues that will require slight modification. I know, it should be perfect, but.....

1. the furthest rear  flange to the tail panel  - just below the body line where it drop into the bumper. I think this area will require some gentle "persuasion"

2. in the trough area  adjacent to the dutchman- (otherwise known as the decklid filler panel ) the angle of flat on the flange that Goodmark  gives you is just a little too much, so it needs to be trimmed slightly.

Hope this helps.

 :iagree:
The only thing else different is the drain hole on the bottom is too square and big. Other than that they fit good. I even modified a set to fit a conv. Took some time and planning but saved a real limegreen RT conv.

Don't worry, the wives usually come around when it's done and they can drive it. Until then it's it's just "some junk car" that's costing alot of money. :smilielol:

I used the 70-1 style and the problems I had were: the ds drip rail area that meets the trunk lid was sorta curved, not much, but enough it needed filled in to get the gap right.  Where they meet up with the roof seam, they seem too low, and need built up some.  I couldnt really move the quarter out or Id have other issues.  They have some creasing on the bends and such, but overall are straight and make a much cleaner fit than the patch style.

Do the holes line up for the trim clips here or will you have to fill and redrill?

The ds was about right on for the 70 ones, ps was off!  The clips slide correct?  Id drill with the goodmark holes and slide the clips where needed instead of filling and drilling new holes.

No, unfortunately no one is that accurate. The trim holes absolutely  do not allign. I see one is spot on, but the others are 1/2" or more away from being on target. No biggie. I did not expect anything THAT good.

Wat are you referring to about "The clips slide correct" Are you referring to the flanges to hold the J-tabs for securing the rear valence panel?

I have not yet gotten that far, but I will let you know as I get further into the final allignment. Right now it is clamped on the car just so that I do not snag myself on the way out to my daily driver. I need a few hours or more to get her on for good. I have a little bit of prep work to do before she goes on for good.
