What Is This?

I'm posting this for alien joey concerning Nugget, his '79 'Gold Nugget Express'. He tells me the larger orange box is not the control module which is on the firewall. It is going bad as evidenced by the flux leakage but his truck will not run without it plugged in and so far he's had no luck finding a replacement.

Can anyone shed some light on what it is? Thanks...Russ

Those years had those boxes , not sure what they control though , could be a Flux Capacitor

Could that be the voltage regulator?

A few thoughts Russ,  I'm guessing that that is an early version of an electronic relay probably some kind of safety interlock.(found a 77 Aspen diagram that has an interlock)...
If its still functional & most of the "flux" is still in tact seal it with something like Plasti-Dip.   Hopefully someone can make a correct ID but funding a replacement may be futile.
