After my car being parked for a lot of years I have found a renewed interest in getting it back in running condition. I find it fun again to be wrenching on it once more--busted knuckles and all. But through occasional flashes of brilliance-I have even amazed myself a couple of times-- I find myself doing some pretty stupid stuff. After getting it running I had a small chargeing problem. The amp gauge would only register slightly on the discharge side and after driving hard all day the battery would die and I would need to get a jump start. Never knew where it was going to quite and if I was going to go any where I would have to put the battery on a charger first. Last winter I got some parts together includeing a new voltage regulator. That reg. had been sitting on my shelf for months. I finally put it in---took all of 5 min. and problem solved.
My auto tranny had a pretty good oil leak (had been rebuilt-then parked) so I was thinking the front seal had dried up or something. I must have bought $50.00 in quarts of tranny fluid and just kept topping it off. Finally got to really checking it out and found the o-ring to the fill tube was shot. Bought a new o-ring for .35 and ten minutes to solve another problem.
I'm not even going to get into trying to put 10" brake shoes on an 11" drum. At least I remebered to only take off one side at a time. Well I keep telling myself I'm having fun but some times
In the end when I do take the car for a cruise I always seem to have a smile.
