Fender bolts
« on: May 30, 2007 - 04:36:39 AM »
On a 71 Challenger are only bolts used to attach the fender to the inner fender or were some studs with nuts also used? I had 2 studs on each side.Is that correct?

Thanks,Dave

I basically have the same question. My 71 Challenger also has one stud and nut on the drivers side fender. I've been wondering if that is correct also. I can't say for sure about the passenger side. I'll have to look. I don't know if my fenders have been off the car is previous times.

I used to have 2 studs until it dawned on me...why do I need studs? it just makes it a pain to get the fender on and off and you risk scraping your paint. So...I removed the studs and put in just fender bolts.  Never looked back   Are you going for factory correct on those things?

I am trying to be as correct as possible but am not going to get crazy with it.

I am not sure of the exact reson for the studs, but I can imagine they were there to hang the top of the fender on something while they adjusted fitment at the factory.

My cuda had them, would make it easier at the factory to set on during production since they were painted assembled.
